Alot has happened since the last post! We've recently met with Charlie Pilzer, a Grammy award winning producer, who runs Airshow Mastering in Takoma Park. We sat down for an interesting meeting, and will be working with him on mastering the upcoming EP, due out in several months. Plans have been made for an intense three week recording session over the Summer, and there should be an abundance of new music streaming from this website in a matter of months! We would also like to announce a June 6th show at Growler's Bar & Pub in Gaithersburg on June 6th. It may be our only show in several weeks, so if you haven't been to a show in quite a while, don't be afraid to come out...we'll be playing an extra long set, and are making sure it to make it a good one. Look forward to more Summer show announcements come June!
Hello once again from Manic Attack. Spring break was very unkind to us here at Manic Attack, so we were unfortunately not able to update the website as it became a bit overlooked. Though we haven't played alot over the past months a few fun things have happened. We have to congratulate our friends in Power Pirate for their awesome album and release show at the U st Music Hall last weekend. Most of us went to the show and thought it was awesome. The night before, we also performed a small rhythm-section jam set at the 'Hope for HIV' Benefit show. We won a raffle to meet with Grammy award winning producer Charlie Pilzer at Airshow Mastering, just down the street in Takoma Park. These past months also saw the release of another single, "Mockingbird". A third song is currently in the mix and all three songs are being completely remastered, remixed and even somewhat rerecorded for our EP release, scheduled to occur sometime over the Summer. There are a few shows coming up in May/June that will be announced as dates and specifics become formalized, so stay tuned. Hopefully we will do a better job of keeping the website up to date in the future.
Hey guys, very exciting last couple days for Manic Attack. Just got back from a show way out in Howard County at River Hill High School's RHHStival, it was pretty awesome, thanks to anyone who came or who found out about us tonight. Earlier this morning, however, at around 12:30am, mixing was finished off on what will be the first single off what has now shaped up to be an upcoming EP. The song is titled Burning Brakes, having been written originally over the summer of '08. All of the recording took place in Jack's basement, and all mixing was completed by the band. The vocals were recorded in a pretty small bathroom; new lyrics were written only several minutes beforehand. We're pretty proud to have something to show everybody, so if you have any feedback, please don't hold back to call one of us or send us an e-mail at ma@manic-attack.com, thanks a bunch.
Happy New Year's Day fellow MA-ers! Manic Attack has just recieved word that they have been accepted to play at RHHStival, Howard County's rock festival. The event will be held January 22nd from 6-10pm at River Hill High School. MA will be playing a half-hour set at the cafe stage from 7:30 to 8:00, admission is $10.00. Look for more details later or talk to a member of the band if you want a ride, there will be photos for all those who cannot make it ;-). The band has also come along in the mixing of what will eventually be an EP master of Burning Brakes, Prototype, Hungry and Mockingbird. Expect to hear at least one of those songs on Myspace, Facebook, and even our website in the coming months. Also, please continue to email to ma@manic-attack.com or tell us personally if you have a killer idea for an album/EP name or art, any feedback is appreciated.
Manic Attack just finished off the week of two fairly large shows. The first at the Austin Grill in Downtown Silver Spring, and the second at the SGR Spectacular at Montgomery Blair High School. MA played the closing set at both shows and had a great time. Thanks to all the fans that showed up to lend support. Look for photos from both shows soon in the live portion of the photos section. Hope everyone has a good holiday break!
Manic Attack began recording yesterday in their own basement studio. The new album is now underway, and is predicted to be due out sometime in the Spring of 2010. It will consist of around 10 songs, and be available online as well. Singles and EP's will be released as mixing and recording progresses, so look out. Any suggestions of album titles or album art can be sent to ma@manic-attack.com. Special thanks to Peter for lending his equipment, skills, and time.
Manic Attack played a wonderful unplugged set at the Takoma Park Folk Festival yesterday, consisting of all new originals except for a cover of Pearl Jam's "Jeremy". This was the first show with MA's new lineup and went extremely well considering the circumstances, new songs such as "Prototype" and "Red Light" were played for the first times. Photos from the event are up in the live section of the site's photo gallery, so check them out.
The first order of Manic Attack t-shirts arrived yesterday. They will available from any band member or at any show for the price of 15$. Available in sizes S-M and made of 100% cotton.
